Nikki Trubetskaya is the embodiment of reinvention, resilience, and a “very late bloomer” with a razor-sharp sense of humor. Nikki’s surname, Trubetskaya, is more than just a name—it’s a link to her rich family heritage. Her connection to history runs deep, as Trubetskaya is a noble Russian name famously mentioned in Tolstoy’s novel War and Peace. One of the key characters, Princess Anna Mikhailovna Drubetskaya, the mother of Boris Drubetskoy, shares this illustrious name. While Nikki’s roots are firmly planted in this storied lineage, she’s focused on forging her own path and making her own legacy.
Born in the Soviet Union, her life has been a masterclass in defying expectations. As a math prodigy in a specialized mathematics high school, she wasn’t just solving equations—she was also winning regional judo competitions, embodying both mental and physical strength. Her academic excellence fast-tracked her into college, where she studied finance, poised to conquer any field she set her mind to. After she enrolled in law school in Moscow, she gained invaluable experience working alongside some of the top lawyers in the field, frequently assisting in high-stakes cases inside the courtroom.
The second Nikki realized she wasn’t the only clown in the courtroom—and that she’d have to share the spotlight—she knew right away that the legal profession wasn’t for her. She needed the stage, the undivided attention, the chance to shine alone. On her stage, she’s the only clown, and that’s exactly how she likes it. That summer trip to New York changed everything. It was like she found herself in a new world, one where she didn’t have to fight for attention or play a role that didn’t suit her.
Trying her hand at acting felt like stepping into her real life. On stage, she was finally alone in the spotlight, no sharing, no compromise—just her and the audience. It was exhilarating. From that moment, Nikki knew there was no going back to law school. The courtroom could keep its clowns; she had found her stage in New York.
She left behind law school in Moscow to study under the legendary Uta Hagen at HB Studio, famed for her influential book Respect for Acting, that raised many actors. Later, Nikki enrolled in college and earned her BFA in acting, fully immersing herself in the craft, performing in off-off-off-off Broadway productions, and working alongside Hollywood greats.
Under the guidance of top-tier agent Archer King, whose client roster included legends like Roman Polanski (before the scandal), James Dean (before his death), Jason Robards, Jack Warden, Martin Sheen, Paul Mazursky, Elizabeth Montgomery, Tommy Tune, and Ron Howard, Nikki’s talent quickly shone through. She captivated audiences in off-0ff-off-off Broadway plays before taking a step behind the camera to raise her daughter.
Now, Nikki is back. As an actor, author, and stand-up comedian, she turns her extraordinary life experiences into sharp, relatable humor that resonates with audiences everywhere. Off the stage, she is an advocate for charitable causes and a devoted dog lover, sharing her life with her daughter and beloved dog, Honey and performs in local clubs of New York.
